Villes et mobilités ![]() IVM, a network accelerating ideas, experiments, projects, knowledge The Institut pour la ville en mouvement (City on the Move) is a non-profit association under French law, founded as part of a corporate sponsorship approach by the PSA Peugeot Citroën Group, with the purpose of establishing links with partners from sectors other than the automobile industry. The objective is to seek solutions to the scientific, technological and social challenges associated with mobility in the city of tomorrow. Movement and mobility in the city: a right and a pleasure Movement: the essence of modernity Movement has become a fundamental value, a condition of change and progress. It reflects the aspirations of individuals to choose what they do and where they do it, as far as possible to build their own lives: movement of things, of people and of capital, linked to the growth and globalisation of the economy. Mobility, a generic right Being able to move around has become what might be called a generic right, a necessary condition of access to other rights, the right to work, housing, education, health... Making mobility enjoyable and improving the quality of city life Empowering everyone to move around as freely as possible, making the different methods of individual and public transport compatible and complementary, making urban facilities and services accessible to all and if possible at any time, improving the quality of the times and loci of movement, increasing autonomy, comfort, enjoyment, environmental quality and safety for everyone on the move: all these represent challenges for our society, new solutions to be sought.
